Features

Below is a list of available features:
  • Find your parked car by marking your current location using your GPS coordinates. As GPS can have precision errors, you can manually adjust your position to the precise location by dragging your marker on the map;
  • You can set when when your parking meter will expire and the application will alert you as required;
  • It will also warn you if there is a reported parking inspector nearby when your car is about to expire or has expired;
  • Has a compass to guide you directly to your parked car;
  • Share locations of garage sales;
  • Share locations and time of Pub happy hours;
  • Share locations of traffic hazards, with some live traffic updates in some areas;
  • Share locations of traffic speed cameras (fixed camera locations will be added soon);
  • Share locations of cheap fuel prices (locations of fuel stations will added soon);
  • Share locations of parking inspectors;
  • Shows the GPS error in meters (Delta)
  • Shows your current GPS altitude (ASL - Above Sea Level in meters. 0 if using wi-fi or cell tower);
  • Automatically popup nearby markers (no need to touch your phone);
  • Automatically shows nearby posted fuel station and its distance;
  • Will show distance from your current GPS location to any other touched location;
  • If you are moving, a speedometer will be shown in (kph)

Each of the feature has a life span. The start of life is at the time it was first posted. When a user confirms the feature, its life is restarted from 0. If no other users can confirm a feature's existence, then it will automatically be phased out and therefore remove from the map permanently, including all previous users that have voted for it.

Feature Life Span

  • Traffic Hazard - 2 hours
  • Pub/Cafe/Restaurant Happy Hour - 2 hours
  • Speed Camera - 1 hour
  • Garage Sales - 24 hours
  • Parking Inspector - 30 minutes
  • Gas/Petrol Station - 24 hours
  • Message - 30 minutes

In effect, we are using the "you have to see it to believe it" principle. If there are no confirmations than it does not exists. In this way, the only features that last are the only relevant ones.
Petrol

The system works by allowing you to share your information with other users of the application. For example, if you see cheap petrol/gas prices at a certain petrol/gas station, you can share this information by posting the price online. All users of the application will have instant access to this information on a map.

The application also allows other users to confirm your posting by voting for the feature. A user can double tap the icon to confirm or vote for the post. So taking the petrol price example, if Jack found that the petrol price was also good at the same petrol station, then instead of posting another Petrol Price alert, Jack can just vote for the existing posting, thereby incrementing the vote count by 1 and also extending the life of the marker by resetting the time to live.
